PriceGrabber.com is a Price Comparison Website founded in 1999 by former CEOs Kamran Pourzanjani and Tamim Mourad. The company also serves as the data source for numerous other shopping websites, including AOL Shopping, Bing Shopping, About.com's ConsumerSearch, iVillage, Comcast, Yahoo!, MSN Shopping and CNET. PriceGrabber.com claims to be the first comparison shopping engine to project tax and shipping cost information for a consumer during the price comparison process, hence offering a more complete view of final costs.
In 2005, PriceGrabber was acquired by Experian $485 million, negotiated by then CEO Kamran Pourzanjani who founded the company along with Tamim Mourad in 1999.
In May 2012, Ybrant Digital agreed to purchase PriceGrabber along with LowerMyBills and ClassesUSA.com (An online higher education portal) from Experian. Steve Krenzer, the then CEO of Experian was to move to Ybrant to continue to lead the three businesses. Ybrant stated in press releases that it expected the purchase to nearly double its revenues. In September 2012, the purchase of PriceGrabber, LowerMyBills, and ClassesUSA.com from Experian fell through after Ybrant missed the deadline to pay for the deal.
